Making Your Eyes Appear Larger

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

Woah baby! Are you inadvertently making your eyes appear smaller than they really are? Here are some do’s and dont’s next time you are doing your eye makeup! Make sure to pin this to your board to reference later 😘

DO:

✨Use a lighter-than-skin-tone eyeshadow or highlight on your brow bone and inner corner. We use light to create depth by doing this. Bonus if this has some shimmer to it to really reflect the light! These shimmer powders are some of my favorite!

✨Blend your shadow past the crease line, especially if you have “hooded” eyes.

✨Concentrate your eyeliner on the outer third of your top lash line.

✨Either use fake lashes with the majority of the length in the outer third of your eye OR

✨Concentrate your mascara on the outer third of your lash line.

✨Use a white eyeliner pencil on your bottom waterline. This creates the illusion your eyes are much larger.

✨Use dark liner, eyeshadow, or contour underneath your lower lash line, and smudge! I love using contours like these underneath the whole eye and a dark shadow in the outer corner!

✨Shape your eyebrows to have a subtle arch. I also use my contour for this in the shade Cola!

For lighter brunettes I suggest the shades Shadow or Astoria. For blondes And redheads I suggest the shade Ash!

DON’T:

🚫 Use dark liner on the lower waterline. This will make eyes appear much smaller.

🚫Forget to add mascara on both top and bottom lashes.

🚫Create a brow shape that is completely straight without any arch or subtle rounding.

🚫Only put shadow directly on the lid, and not also above the crease line.

🚫Use only very dark eyeshadows without balancing the lid and brow bone with a lighter shade!

Now I don’t believe in makeup “rules”, and a lot of factors go into your specific eye shape, but these tips can help you along your way!
