I had been dying to try Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion as soon as I heard it was an amazing spot treatment for pesky pimples, but when I saw the price tag I nearly fell over. Seventeen dollars for a one ounce bottle! To put that into perspective, that's about three dollars more than the going rate for pure silver these days! There was absolutely no way I was about to pay that, so I set out to find a dupe that works, and is cheap... and by golly I found one!
Here is what you'll need:
Water
Q-Tip for application
That's it.... When all is said and done, you can make about 30 bottles of this heavenly mixture for about 0.67¢ a bottle! So unless you'd rather pay $17 a bottle, follow the directions below!
How to make:
Fill the bottle a little less than a quarter way full with the calamine lotion.
Add 20 drops of the tea tree oil
Top off the rest with water (purified if you have it)
Shake well.
It is serious just that easy! You will want the product to settle at the bottom once you have given it the initial shake. Resist the urge to keep mixing it before you apply! You will want it to be settled for the most potency. When it comes to applying the product, just follow these simple steps.
Take your Q-tip and dip it slowly into the calamine mixture at the bottom of the bottle.
Slowly take it out, and apply directly on each pimple as a spot treatment. One dip should be enough for a few separate spots.
To avoid contamination, use the other side, or a new Q-Tip if you need more product.
Allow each spot to dry. You'll be surprised to find that the redness and swelling goes down in as little as a few minutes, so if you wake up to find a volcano on your face, don't think you don't have enough time to do something about it! If I am able, I like to go to bed with it on, and often wake up with almost no bump at all!
Check out this youtube video, as I do a quick synopsis on this product and go over application!
